Doctors of Internal Medicine

Doctors of Internal Medicine are also known as "Internists". Internists concentrate on adult medicine treating adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. However, internists do not perform surgery. Doctors of Internal Medicine can be your primary care physician and care for you for life. When other medical specialists, such as surgeons or obstetricians, are involved, your internist coordinates and manages patient care.
