Jacinto del Mazo, MD
Dr. del Mazo has a long history in Atlanta where he did his Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training and Emory University. Following two years of research in gastrointestinal hormones at the University of Florida, Dr. del Mazo returned to Atlanta to continue his medical career in the academic and research environment with Emory University, becoming an Associate Professor in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
In 1980, he changed from academic to clinical medicine when he joined the practice of Dr. James Kaufmann. This change gave him the opportunity to pursue his love of direct patient care. After two years with Dr. Kaufmann, Dr. del Mazo opened his own medical group where he directed multiple physicians in a wide range of specialties. In 2015, he joined, AGA, the largest gastroenterology group in the Southeast. Now, in 2021, Dr. del Mazo is excited to return to The Kaufmann Clinic and the practice of Dr. Robert Kaufmann, a respected colleague and friend of many years.
Dr. del Mazo's expertise in both internal medicine and gastroenterology gives him the unique skills to evaluate and treat patients with complex internal medicine conditions who present with GI problems.
When not treating patients, Dr. del Mazo enjoys spending his free time with Arlene, his wife of 50 years, his four children, their spouses, and his thirteen grandchildren. In addition, Dr. del Mazo is a published poet in Spain, his native country.
